Stream Target is not working or stuck on Starting

If the status is stuck on Starting it likely means that Wowza is having difficulties connecting to the Facebook server and you should check your firewalls for OUTBOUND port 1935. You could attempt to disable your firewall temporarily also to see if this helps. Another reason could be your DNS resolution, so it is important to make sure your network is in good health.

If you are unable to solve the problem then you can confirm the issue by enabling Stream Target debugging and reviewing the Wowza Streaming Engine logs either from your system or from Wowza Manager directly.

You can enable Stream Target Debugging by following these steps:

  1. Login to MediaCP
  2. Navigate to System Config
  3. Select the "Plugins" tab and then open the "Wowza Streaming Engine" section
  4. Scroll down until you find the option for Stream Target Debugging (or similar) and enable this
  5. Save the settings
  6. Navigate to your service Stream Targets and click Reconnect

The stream target connection will now be logged into /usr/local/WowzaStreamingEngine/logs/wowzastreamingengine_access.log. You can search the file for your Stream Targets name and it should confirm any errors.
