MediaCP Video and Flussonic or Wowza on the same system

System Requirements

We generally recommend running only one on your system, because video plugins are designed to run dedicated on the system and by default both use some of the same ports (1935, 1936) and a lot of system resources, essentially doubling the resources for the same functionality. For this reason our installation asks to install only one or the other.

Install the MediaCP with Flussonic or Wowza first

To install Wowza Streaming Engine or Flussonic on the same server as MediaCP Video, it is recommended to install MediaCP Video last as it will automatically select alternative ports if 1936 or 1935 are in use. If 1935 is in use 19355 will be used instead, if 1936 is in use 19366 will be used. If you have already installed MediaCP Video then proceed to the guide at the bottom of the page to manually configure custom ports.

In the following steps we’ll come back and install MediaCP Video. 

Please review System Requirements before installing the Media Control Panel software on your system.

1. Login to your server as root

It is required that you login to the server as a root user to install the Media Control Panel.

2. Run the following in SSH to begin the installation

cd /root;rm -f init;wget http://install.mediacp.net/scripts/init;chmod +x init;./init;

3. Select your media server

Our script will only allow you to install one at a time. For this guide install either Flussonic or Wowza Streaming Engine.

Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the remainder of the installation.

Install MediaCP Video

After installing the control panel and the first streaming server you can now install MediaCP Video by running: 

/root/init --install-video

MediaCP Video will then automatically adjust it’s ports to not conflict with your other streaming server.

Configure Custom MediaCP Video Ports

If you happened to install MediaCP Video first, this section of the guide will cover the steps to change the default ports on MediaCP Video. If you are using Wowza Streaming engine you will need to change the ports to 19355 & 19366, if you are using Flussonic only 1935 must be changed to 19355.

  1. Login to the Media Control Panel as administrator
  2. Select System Config → Plugins → MediaCP Video 
  3. Update the RTMP and RTMPS ports as needed
  4. SSH into server as root
  5. Update the /usr/local/mediacp/nginx-rtmp/conf/rtmp.port & /usr/local/mediacp/nginx-rtmp/conf/rtmps.port files to match the configuration set in the panel in step 3

  6. Restart MediaCP Video:

mediacp restart video
