Last updated 2 months ago

An video service or channel is typically powered by an video streaming engine which is responsible for receiving and delivering video content to viewers. MediaCP offers various service types for a variety of streaming needs, this page will outline the primary options.

Live Streaming

Live Streaming services will go online when an encoder is connected and stream live content to viewers and Stream Targets. Live Streaming services will use the least number of resources and are the simplest to operate.  RTMP streaming details are shown on the service overview to allow you to conveniently connect to the service with your encoder.

TV Station

TV stations are designed for a 24/7 live playback experience with powerful scheduling and live options. You can choose to play uploaded content through scheduled playlist or the default playlist when nothing is scheduled. You can also connect to TV services with your encoder in the same way you would with a Live Streaming service.

A default playlist will broadcast when there are no scheduled playlists or live broadcasts connected.

Ondemand Streaming

Ondemand may be available depending on your service provider’s streaming engine. Ondemand Streaming services allow you to upload & create on-demand video playlists to embed on your website. Dynamic playlists allow you to configure their video playlists from the MediaCP and automatically update on your website in realtime with no changes to code. This powerful feature means you only ever need to apply embed code to your websites once.

Stream Relay

Relay services are capable of rebroadcasting from another RTMP, RTSP or HLS source. Rebroadcasting allows you to push out a stream with higher bandwidth availability as well as use many of the MediaCP functions such as transcoding, stream publishing (facebook, youtube, etc), reporting and much more. These are commonly used to for rebroadcasting and for IP cameras.
